USP Verified mark on supplement labels

374 products in the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database print the USP Verified mark on their label, 301 of them on the market; they list vitamin D 2.8 times as often as supplements overall (36% against 13%); 75% list at least one vitamin (DSLD version 9.4.0, January 2026).

USP (the U.S. Pharmacopeia) verifies that a product contains the listed ingredients in the declared amounts, does not contain specified contaminants, will break down and release into the body within a specified time, and was made under good manufacturing practices. To confirm a product, use USP's list of verified products.

How the two counts differ: 374 labels in the NIH database print the mark (301 on the market), while the certifier's own list says "More than 160 different dietary supplement formulas have received the USP Verified Mark", from 16 brands (read October 7, 2026). A DSLD label shows the mark as printed when NIH transcribed it, so it can outlast the product's place in the program; one formula sold in several sizes or flavors is several labels; and the certifier counts formulas. The label is the label's claim; the certifier's list is the current one. The certifier's list.
