Is that a lot?
The rows in the top or bottom tenth of the products that list the same ingredient, and any above the adult upper limit at the most servings a day the directions give:
- At 4 servings a day, the most its directions give, the label lists 300 mg of niacin, 8.6 times the adult Tolerable Upper Intake Level.
- 86% of the 7,022 products that print an amount of folate list more than its 100 mcg of folate (median 400 mcg).
The NIH database records 1 to 4 servings a day from the label's directions; its % Daily Values are for adults and children 4 or more years of age. The directions as printed are further down this page.
The Tolerable Upper Intake Level is the most of a nutrient per day, from food, water and supplements together, that is likely to pose no risk for almost all adults (Institute of Medicine, 2011). It does not apply under medical supervision. This page compares labels; it is not medical advice.

- Directions
- Suggested Use: For adults only. Place one tablespoon of mix in 4 to 8 ounces of cold water or fruit juice. Stir briskly and drink. Serve over ice for best flavor. Consume as desired 1 to 4 times per day. For best results drink immediately after awakening, on an empty stomach or about one hour before a meal or usual snack time.
- Warnings
- Safety sealed for your protection. Return for replacement if outer seal is broken.
- Phenylketonurics: Contains phenylalanine
- Caution: Do not consume more than 2.4 grams of supplemental phenylalanine per day. Not for use by anyone sensitive to any of the ingredients. Excessive consumption of L-phenylalanine or caffeine may cause insomnia, especially when taken in the late afternoon or evening. If insomnia occurs, reducing the amount consumed by 1/2 will usually correct the problem. If insomnia is a problem, we suggest drinking LIFT only once per day for the first week, right after you arise in the morning. During the second week and thereafter, drink it twice per day, upon arising and an hour before lunch.
- Not for use by children or by pregnant or lactating women, persons with the genetic metabolic disorder PKU, psychosis, persons taking prescription MAO (monoamine oxidase) inhibitor drugs, pigmented malignant melanoma cancer patients, those with Wilson’s disease, or those who have a violent temper.
